Inspired by the BBC Three Programme ‘Glow Up’, this summer Look Good Feel Better will be hosting our very own version of the competition and we’re inviting YOU to take part. We are always astounded by the creativity and skills of our  beauty trained volunteers and supporters. Now is your chance to put your skills to the test and compete alongside others to be crowned the 2020 LGFB Best MUA Champion!

Thank you to everyone who entered the 2020 competition, we had over 100 incredible submissions and 5 amazing finalists. Well done to Fiona, Holly, Dann, Chloe and Karolina who all made it to the voting stages.

We’re thrilled to have international make-up artist to the stars and guest judge on Glow Up Series 1, Caroline Barnes, as a judge for the 2020 LGFB Best MUA Competition. Top international MUA Caroline, who has supported the charity for many years, has generously agreed to review the looks submitted and will select the Top 5 entries from across all categories.

There are 3 stages to the competition – submission, judging and voting which are explained in the drop down area below. You are invited to make your submission under one of the below categories:

Categories 2020

Cut crease (2020 trend) – A technique used to define the crease by “cutting” across it with a contrasting eyeshadow colour and little to no blending.

Animal print (2020 trend) – Makeup used to create the illusion of animal patterns; this could be leopard, snake, zebra, tiger or any other animal with patterns.

Glossy eyes (2020 trend) – Where a form of gloss is applied to the eyelid over the eye makeup, to create a wet effect.

Watercolour makeup (2020 trend) – Using sheer tints of colour, the makeup is layered to create sheer, transparent colours.

Exaggerated eye shape (2020 trend) – Using softly blurred and blended blocks of colour so they’re not too defined to exaggerate the eye shape.

Smokey eye (classic trend) – Consists of dark eyeshadow and eyeliner blended into lighter eyeshadow to create a “smokey” effect.

Ombre lip (2020 trend) – The ombre lip is a graduation of colour that gently evolves from light in to dark.

Amateur – Whether you are a budding MUA, enjoy experimenting at home or are just confident in applying makeup then this is the category for you! We would like you to show us your best overall make-up look. You can use any colours you’d like and can have the main focus on one area (eg eyes or lips) but you must make up your whole face.
