Our Christmas Story…
Christmas is a time for giving and sharing, both within families and with those we have never met. It is a time when many find more joy in the pleasure of giving than they do in receiving.
Sadly, around 2.5 million people in the UK will be sharing their Christmas this year with cancer – friend to no one. Cancer and the treatment for cancer can rob those it touches of many things. Hair and eyebrows come to mind, but what about those things less talked about - self-esteem? Confidence? and even friends?
A Look Good Feel Better session might seem frivolous in the face of a cancer diagnosis, but it’s not really about the make-up. Whilst the workshops teach professional tips and techniques to help manage the physical changes that can be experienced, the benefit comes from the transformational effect in confidence and reduction in levels of distress as a result of this group support.
Our sand story is about Sally. She shares how cancer effected not just her, but her whole family. Even with the love and devotion of her husband and sons, she felt she had lost her femininity and her identity. After the LGFB workshop her mood lifted, she looked in the mirror and the light had come back into her eyes. Her family saw the light too, they felt had their wife and mother back.
You can put the light back into someone’s life this Christmas.
