WE CLIMBED. WE CONQUERED...
On Sunday 7th September 120 LGFB supporters put on their walking shoes to climb one of London’s most iconic landmarks as part of LGFB’s 20th Anniversary celebrations. The adventure over the famous O2 Arena takes climbers on a 28° ascent across a 190m long raised walkway, reaching a final height of 52metres above the ground.
An observation platform at the summit gave climbers the chance to take in spectacular 360° views of London including Canary Wharf, the Olympic Park and the River Thames - a perfect photo opportunity. Walkers included LGFB Executive Director, Sarahjane Robertson, volunteers, beneficiaries, families and friends and has raised over £30,000 to date.
Ian Daniels, Head of Fundraising said: “This is the first time that LGFB has organised an event of this kind and it was a huge success. Everyone really enjoyed the day and it was a great opportunity for us to do something a little more unusual. We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of sponsors and there are still donations coming it, so we expect the total to rise even further! ”
