On Saturday 23rd January a group of very brave women put on their warpaint and ran 5k or 10k through muddy terrain and chest high water all to raise money for Look Good Feel Better.  The LGFB army consisted of more than 80 women including LGFB head office staff, volunteers, friends, beneficiaries and supporters as well as groups of runners from Tesco Beauty and M&S Beauty – all getting very muddy!

Run by Brutal, over 700 women in total took part, but our Look Good Feel Better runners were easily spotted by their pink t-shirts and abundance of enthusiasm. Of course, the LGFB team were waiting on the finish line with support and goodies for all those taking part, kindly donated to us by Tesco and Kind Snacks.

“A big thank you to everyone that took part, it really was quite brutal, some of the water obstacles were absolutely freezing, making it even more challenging.” said Ian Daniels Head of Fundraising at LGFB

LGFB Beneficiary and runner, Sonia Goldring Bananchowicz from Portsmouth travelled up from for the event despite only finishing her last session of chemotherapy three days before, she said; “I have been lucky that the physical side-effects of chemotherapy haven’t been too debilitating and as soon as I saw this event, I just had to take part.  Look Good Feel Better is such a wonderful charity and they gave me a much needed confidence boost at a time when I needed it most.  The tips that they taught made me feel less scared about the side-effects of my treatment, knowing how to draw on my missing eyebrows means I don’t look like a cancer patient so I’m not treated like one either!  I can’t thank the charity enough and I’m pleased that I could be a part of this amazing event.”

The good news is we will be doing another Brutal Run in November, for both men and women, so there’s another chance to get involved! Just email
