FATHER AND DAUGHTER CYCLE 400KM ACROSS INDIA AND RAISE MORE THAN £6,600 FOR LOOK GOOD FEEL BETTER
Samantha, 45 and Simon, 74 took on the 6 day challenge, cycling from Rajasthan to the Taj Mahal, in memory of their friend Len.
Len, passed away in 2014 and the duo wanted to do something in his honour. Visiting the Taj Mahal had been on Simon’s ‘bucket list’ for a while, so they thought it would be a great way to fulfil one of his dreams whilst fundraising for Look Good Feel Better, a charity close to both theirs and friend Len’s heart.
“We arrived on Saturday 15th November 2014, it was like nothing I had ever seen in my life! India is so noisy and boy do they like to honk their horns! The roads are pure madness!” says Samantha.
The first day of cycling involved a 45km ride and the following days the group cycled from the early hours right through to 4pm, averaging close to 85km a day. “The hardest day was definitely day four,” explains Samantha, “it was 85km in total and it was really tough! I’m proud to say at the end of the 6 days I’d cycled 421km in total, an amazing achievement!
On behalf of Len Wallace and family, Dad and me, we would like to thank all of those that donated for such a worthy cause.”
Ian Daniels, Head of Fundraising at LGFB comments: “Thank you to Samantha and Simon for completing this fantastic challenge and raising such a huge sum of money. If anyone has been inspired by their story, please do get in touch with our fundraising team to discuss how you can help support women and teenagers living with cancer.”
As of January 1st 2015 the total amount raised was £6,641.07 if you would like to sponsor Samantha and Simon, then please visit their JustGiving page https://www.justgiving.com/Samantha-Sweet/
