If there isn’t a Workshop taking place near you, then please look at our Masterclass page as we may have one of these running closer to you.
We work through a specially designed routine, showing you basic skincare and make-up techniques to help you both look good and feel better. The classes last for about 2 hours - by the end of the class you will look fabulous and will have made many new friends.
Look Good Feel Better does not charge for attending a Workshop or Masterclass.
Masterclasses were set up to enable us to reach out to smaller communities that aren’t currently covered by the Workshop Programme. We do ask Masterclass attendees to provide their own colour products, a full list will be provided along with a generous discount voucher. A set of skincare products are provided for attendees to share hygienically.
We’ve created The Confidence Kit for anyone who can’t attend a Workshop or Masterclass. The DVD and 48 page booklet covers everything from skincare and make-up, wig selection and styling, alternative head covering and nailcare. Find out more about The Confidence Kit and order your copy here.
We also have a selection of videos which includes advice on skincare, make-up, wigs and haircare and our most popular video ‘How to recreate missing eyebrows.’ You can view them all on our Tutorials & Advice page.
We would suggest that you come when we can be of most help with the visible side effects – this is usually in the middle or just after your second treatment. You can attend for up to a year after your treatment has finished.
We want you to be comfortable and have fun, many ladies are happy to remove their head scarves and wigs and others prefer to keep them on. It is absolutely fine either way.
The products provided are suitable for most skin types. If you are allergic to any specific ingredients or have extra sensitive skin, talk to the consultants. It is not a problem for you to leave out specific products that you are concerned about. Or if you are worried about being allergic to certain products, you might like to bring your own products.
Some of our workshops have plenty of space and others have none, so it is best to check when you book with the venue.
Do not worry, our qualified beauty volunteers will guide you through every step of the session and make sure you are comfortable.
The 2 hours will go very quickly and most ladies come out on a high, looking and feeling amazing and wishing they had booked to go out that evening.
The hospital team will endeavour to rebook you onto another workshop at a later date, subject to availability. You must let the venue know as soon as possible.

(for example we may use brighter shades and bit of glitter too!) Please call the LGFB head office on 01372 747 500 to find out if there is a teen Workshop taking place near you.

Your skin may feel dryer than usual. The best way to combat this is to use a good facial cleanser and moisturiser that will help retain water within the skin. Use a lotion or cream, depending on what makes your skin feel most comfortable. Watch our Skincare Tutorial
Use a good quality eye cream morning and night to nourish the skin, apply with a light tapping motion to the eye socket bone around the eye. Diminish dark circles with concealer, apply gently on the dark area only with a clean ring finger or cotton bud and blend in. Watch our Base Make-Up Tutorial

Looking after your hands and nails is particularly important during and after chemotherapy treatment as your nails become weaker and more prone to splitting. Use a good hand cream to regularly moisturise your nails and hands and make sure that you wear gloves while doing household chores, especially when washing-up, as excessive exposure to water can lead to fungal infections of the nail bed. Watch our Nailcare Tutorial
False lashes can be very useful, but they do need some existing lashes for support. If you are having chemotherapy treatment, check with your doctor or nurse before using false lashes as the adhesive can sometimes irritate sensitive skin and removing them may pull out any existing lashes.
The UK trade association, CTPA, has a comprehensive website for consumers giving facts about the way cosmetic products are regulated, the ingredients used and interesting information about how they work. Please log on to this website.
LGFB receives no statutory funding. Over 40 member companies and brands provide product, professional support and help fundraise. In addition, a large proportion of our income comes from independent fundraising - individuals, companies, community groups and associations who run events and raise money to support our charity. Ladies who have benefited from our workshops also often want to get involved, either with donations or fundraising to enable other people to benefit from our workshops. Find out more about Fundraising.
